HOW INSANE WAS PABLO ESCOBAR’S CAR COLLECTION?

The story of cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar is fairly well known by most at this point. At one point, Escobar’s personal wealth was estimated to be as high as $30 million dollars, which made him one of the wealthiest men alive in the early 90’s. After running for and winning a seat in the Colombian Chamber of Representatives, Escobar was vilified by the Colombian and US Government as the reason for the South American nation becoming the murder capital of the world, leading to his assassination by the Colombian National Police in 1993.

What many people don’t know is that Escobar was a huge car nut and had a collection estimated to be worth some $4 million. YouTube channel ARich put together this slideshow of some of the most valuable and sought-after cars in his collection, including images of many of the cars with Escobar behind the wheel or posing with them. Stock photos are used to illustrate the rest of the rides, many of which were torched by the Colombian authorities while they were pursuing Escobar in the early 90’s.
It hurts to see these cars in their burned state, knowing the cars themselves did nothing to earn such a brutal fate, but the message had to be sent that Escobar’s property would not be spared as they hunted him down. It seems logical that Escobar likely bought and sold or traded many other cars as he was an avid racer and seemed to enjoy cars as a hobby when not organizing the smuggling of tons of cocaine into the US at the height of the drug’s popularity in the 80’s.
Pablo was viewed by many as a Robin Hood-type figure, especially the poor in Colombia, for whom he spent millions at the height of his empire. They adored Escobar and an estimated 25,000 attended his funeral services. Many actually pray to Escobar to this day, viewing his as a saint who worked hard to help those less fortunate.

We just hate that his cars were destroyed, as it would be cool to see what they brought at auction after his death.
